THE INAUGURATION OF THE BREMANG DISTRICT COURT-KUMASI.

The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Anim Yeboah, together with other judicial justices, today inaugurated the Suame District courthouse situated at Bremang in the Suame constituency in the Ashanti Region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Honorable Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, Honorable Kyei Mensah Bonsu, member of Parliament for Suame, Honorable Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II, Bremang Hene, and Mrs. Grace Tagoe, Director, Judicial Reforms & Projects, among others.

The Majority leader in parliament, who doubles as the minister of government business, applauded Justice Anim Yeboah for opening his 19 courthouses in Ashanti Region and over 100 since assuming the position of Chief Justice.

He acknowledged that it has been the dream of the chief justice to widen the scope of the administration of justice to every district in the country.

He also stated that justice are delayed in proceedings due to inadequate courthouses in the country, however, the current Chief Justice has changed the narrative and deserves applause for that.

The member of Parliament for Suame said the dream to have the courthouse by Chief Justice was supported by Irene Naa Torshie, who is in charge of a common fund.

Through the common fund, the courthouse was built. He emphasized that the administration of justice is the key to national development, and this courthouse will help reduce the crime rate in the constituency.

However, this was made possible because Suame was made a municipal assembly, which is no longer under Kumasi Metro Assembly.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, warned public servants not to use their position to take advantage of others. He encouraged them to work diligently and to uphold the rule of law.

The chief of Bremang, Nana Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II, in his speech, pleaded with the Chief Justice to make the courthouse a District One if it falls within the district court status quo.

He continued to outline some criminalities within the municipal area, mainly issues of divorce, domestic violence, assaults, and serious criminal issues.

The Chief Justice of the Republic, his lordship Anim Kwesi Yeboah, stated that it’s their resolve as an institution to build a system of justice that assures efficient, timely, and quality justice delivery.

He emphasized that it needs a collective effort to ensure that the judiciary, which is the bastion of law, is well-resourced to deliver its constitutional mandate.

He also mentioned that the court inaugurated addresses the quest to deal with the lack and poor state of physical infrastructure, which has over the years derailed the effective operation of the courts generally and that challenge the services to the people.

The chief Justice entreated revered chiefs to desist from addressing criminal matters in their palaces and allow the full rigorous of the law to apply when people are found wanting.

Furthermore, he assured that the court, for the time being, will maintain its district status until the completion of the upper floor to meet the circuit court standard.

The inauguration of the Bremang District Court is a significant milestone in ensuring that justice is delivered to all citizens of Ghana.

The courthouse will help reduce the crime rate in the constituency and provide quick, efficient, and quality justice delivery.

It is hoped that other districts in the country will emulate this example and ensure that justice is delivered to all citizens.
