2021 Green Ghana Day

Following the National Launch of the 2021 Green Ghana held on March 23rd ,2021 by the Minister for the Lands & Natural Resources.  Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor, the Executive Director of Forestry Commission directed the various MMDAS across the country to observe and celebrate the day with tree planting activities under the theme: ‘’ Forest Restoration, Planting Five Million Trees in a day’’.  The celebration was held on 11th June 2021 at Kantinka Dr. Donkor Fordjour Electoral Area in the Suame Municipality

The Forestry Commission supplied the Assembly with trees of varying species. The following institutions played a vital role in the exercise which included

  • Forestry Department
  • Spatial Planning Unit
  • Nadmo
  • NCCE
  • Information Service

The Member of Parliament for Suame, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu joined hands with the chief and people of Breman to plant trees at Breman Cemetery. A total of 1,560 seedlings made of 500 mahogany, 400 ofram and teak respectively with 100 cassia, 50 coconut, akyee and flamboyant respectively and 10 royal palms were received and planted.

Handing Over Of Suame Municipal Office Complex

On Thursday, 3rd June, 2021, BB Viderk Construction Company handed over a 3-Storey Building Office Complex which was fully funded by the Government of Ghana to Suame Municipal Assembly.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the Contractor for the project appealed to the Assembly to take good care of the building and adopt maintenance culture that will prolong the life span of the building.

The Member of Parliament (M.P) for Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu who was the special guest for the occasion thanked the Contractor for working within schedule and for a good work done. He said the construction of the building is to fulfil the government’s commitment to make decentralization a beacon of democracy.  The building provides a serene working environment required to motivate staff to pursue sound policies for socio-economic development of the people.

The office complex consists of offices for the Department of the Assembly, Conference facilities, and many other auxiliary facilities.

In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. John Osei Bobie-Boahin, Traditional Authorities, Assembly members, Clergys and Heads of Department.

Suame Municipal kick starts the Covid19 vaccination

The Suame Municipal, Today 2nd march, 2021, kick starts the covid19 vaccination.
The Vaccination started around 15: 00 GMT at the Municipal Central Administration Office Complex.
The Municipal Chief Executive Dr. John Osei Bobie Boahin was the first to be vaccinated, followed by the health Director, The municipal Security, Nananom and other Heads of Departments.
Prior to the vaccination, the Municipal Director of Health Ms. Anowuo assured the gathering that, the vaccine has no known negative effects.

Suame MP Osei-kyei-Mensah Presents Equipment To Barbers and HairDressers.

The Honourable Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu Today presents equipment to Barbers & Hairdressers Association to aid in their upkeep during this Post-COVID period.
Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, MP for Suame, the Majority Leader and Minister designate for Parliamentary Affairs, early this morning, Monday 22nd day of February, 2021, gave meaning to President Akufo-Addo’s all-inclusive human resource development agenda when he presents equipment to Barbers & Hairdressers Association to aid in their upkeep during this Post-COVID period.
Accompanied by the Presiding Member of the Suame Municipal Assembly – Mr Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, the Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in Suame – Mr Richard Asante, the Communications Officer/Nabco Coordinator for Suame – Ms Lily Appiah and the Deputy Nasara Coordinator – Alhaji Bala, the Majority Leader in short ceremony handed over the items, which included Hair Dryers (35 hand Dryers and 35 wall dryers), 35 Sterilizers, Barbering machines amongst others to leadership of the Association in the premises of Kumasi Vocational Training Center.
The Chairman of the Association expressed their appreciations to Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu for his kindness and called on members to ask for Divine wisdom, protection and long life for the MP, as the crowd, they say, hates the torchbearer. He collaborated the immense contribution of the MP to Suame Municipality, as enumerated by the Presiding Member, but, like Oliver Twist, called for more.
The Member of Parliament admonished beneficiaries of the items to cease this opportunity to make themselves useful for the many advantages that comes with implementation of African Continental Free Trade Area. In his words skills acquisition plays key role in Ghana home grown policy. And that lack of formal employment in public sector can never be acceptable reason for unemployment. He promised to continue leading in more of such facilitations to ensure sustained growth of skilled tradesmen and artisans within the municipality.

Basic Schools in Suame Receive Educational Materials

Some Government basic schools in the Suame Municipality in the Ashanti Region have received some educational materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enhance academic work and protect them from COVID19 as schools reopen.

The items included, Nose Masks, Sanitizers, School Uniforms, Exercise Books, Mathematical Sets, Pencils, Erasers, Pens, Biscuits and Soft Drinks.

The Beneficiary schools were, Suame M/A, Adadiem M/A and Anomangye M/A.

Dr John Osei Bobbie Boahen, Suame Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), donated the items during a visit to the schools to observe the preparation of pupils and teachers towards the resumption of academic work following the reopening of schools by the government.

It was also to observe how schools in the municipality were observing the covid-19 safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus in their schools.

Dr Boahen said the gesture was to encourage pupils to work hard and become good leaders of the country.
He appealed to the teachers to work hard to ensure that every pupil, especially the little ones are adequately protected by following the laid down safety protocols to help curb the spread of covid 19.

The MCE also urged the pupils to strictly adhere to the safety protocols by cultivating the habit of wearing their nose masks and washing their hands all the time.

Pastor Anthony Anyamesem Poku, Municipal Director of Education, expressed his appreciation to the school authorities for ensuring strict adherence to all the covid-19 preventive protocols.

He said about 10,000 pupils were expected to be back in school following the reopening.

Pastor Poku urged the pupils to study hard, obey their teachers, and also adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Madam Mohammed Lutfata, Headmistress of Suame M/A school, expressed gratitude to the MCE for the kind gesture.

She pledged to work hard with the teachers to help protect the students from the pandemic.

Veep Dr Bawumia Tours Suame Constituency

VEEP tours suame constituency.

The Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia toured suame constituency to abreast himself with the state of development in the municipality.

He was accompanied by the Hon. Member of parliament for Suame constituency Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

 

The 36th farmers Day anniversary – 2020

The Suame Municipal Assembly celebrated the 36th farmers Day anniversary at the Breman community park.

The MCE Dr. John Osei Bobbie Boahin accompanied by the Municipal Director of Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the District Police Commander to Inspect Exhibits.

SMA Donates to People With Disability

As part of efforts to economically empower people with disability (PWD) in the municipality, the assembly procured and distributed income enhancing equipment to over 150 PWDs in the municipality. Items distributed include; Deep Freezer, knitting machines, ice chest, fufu pounding machine etc.

Suame Municipal Assembly Inaugurates Zonal Councils – 2020

Suame Municipal Assembly inaugurates zonal councils

The suame municipal assembly has inaugurated its three zonal councils as per section 50 of the local government act 2016 act 936.

The councils are Suame, Maakro and Kronum. The Councillors were sworn in by his lordship fred obikyere of the Kumasi magistrate court.

In His keynote address the MCE DR. JOHN OSEI BOBBIE BOAHIN appealed to the Councillors to help improve revenue collection in the municipalty
