Ghana\u2019s 67th<\/sup> Independence Day celebration took place at the Maakro school park. The occasion was graced by the Security services i.e. the Police and the fire service, School Children, Nananom, religious leaders, Hon. Assembly members, Public Servants, Executive of the various political parties and the\u00a0 General Public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The March Past was undertaken by a contingent of students, selected from both Public and Private schools and made up of Primary, junior high, senior high schools and the various cadet corps in the municipality. The rhythm for the March pass was played by the Maakro Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church Band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye led by the Parade commander and flanked by the Municipal Director of Education, Municipal Chief Director and the Division Police Commander reviewed and inspected the parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive of the Suame Municipal Assembly on presenting the anniversary address on the theme \u2013 Our Democracy Our Pride stated that the Ghanaian democracy, provides and promotes divergent views. He therefore appealed to the people in the Suame Municipality to help promote and protect the democracy within the municipality. He assured the people that every legitimate means will be taken to promote free and fair election in the municipality during the general 2024 election. He appealed to all voters in the municipality to go and discharge their civil obligation during the 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive mentioned some of the development projects that the municipality has engaged in, as the provision of sanitation facilities, provision of bridges, roads and health facilities. He concluded his speech by admonishing the people to refrain from acts that promote indiscrimination based on sex, religion, tribe etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police Service (Suame Division) Asst. Supt of Police Evelyn Dogbey took the municipal Salute on behalf of the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Suame Municipal Assembly awarded all participating schools with certificates and Jerseys were awarded to schools who placed first to third in both the primary and Junior High school category. Two sets of jerseys were also presented to the Suame Municipal Education Directorate and another to the Pentecostal Senior High School for being the only SHS to participate in the march past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
