It therefore behooves the Environmental Health Department, with support from the Assembly, to ensure that this responsibility is executed in accordance with the Environmental laws.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PURPOSE<\/strong><br \/>\nThe purpose of the Environmental Health Department is to ensure the prevention of any hazard or negative impact the environment may have on man.<br \/>\nThe department is therefore to assess, correct, control and prevent those factors in the environment which can adversely affect the health of both present and future generations.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThe Environmental Health and Management Department exist to maintain a clean, safe and pleasant environment in all human settlements, to promote the social, economic and physical well being of all sections of the population.<br \/>\n<em><strong>VISION<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThe vision of the Environmental Health Department is to improve and promote public health standards of all people in the Suame Municipality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH UNIT<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>a. THE FRONT-LINE OFFICERS<\/strong><br \/>\nThe front-line officers of the Environmental Health Unit (EHU) are responsible for enforcing environmental health standards within the jurisdiction of the Suame Municipal.<br \/>\nThe specific responsibilities of these officers are as follows:<br \/>\n1. Creating and maintaining a database on all premises of environmental importance to the municipal.<br \/>\n2. Inspection of all premises identified for their state of sanitation and public health to ascertain as to their state of sanitation and necessary action taken for their remedy.<br \/>\n3. Monitoring environmental sanitation facilities and activities.<br \/>\n4. Compilation and reporting of problems requiring inter-sector collaboration.<br \/>\n5. Management of complaints.<br \/>\n6. Providing health education and promotion activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>b. SPECIALISED UNITS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH UNIT<\/strong><br \/>\n1.
